BREAKING: Nigerian have lost confidence in you, resign now – ADC to INEC chairman Amupitan
The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has called for the immediate resignation of the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Joash Amupitan.
The demand was made by the party’s National Chairman, David Mark, during a world press conference held in Abuja on Thursday.
Addressing journalists, Mark urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to sack the INEC boss if he fails to step down voluntarily, insisting that the commission’s leadership lacks the capacity to conduct a credible election in 2027.
“We demand the immediate resignation or sack of the INEC chairman. We call on Professor Amupitan and all his national commissioners to resign immediately,” Mark said.
He added, “We no longer have confidence in them. We are convinced that they are incapable of conducting any credible election.”
The development comes amid escalating tensions between the ADC and INEC over the party’s internal leadership crisis and recent decisions by the electoral body affecting its factions.
More details are expected to emerge as the situation unfolds.
