After Osun victory, Adeleke meets Tinubu at Presidential Villa, presents him his certificate of return
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is currently meeting with Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
Adeleke, who secured re-election in the August 15 governorship election on the platform of the Accord Party, arrived at the State House at about 5:25pm.
His visit comes days after the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared him the winner of the election with 511,067 votes.
His closest challenger, All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate Bola Oyebamiji, polled 444,815 votes, giving Adeleke a winning margin of 66,252 votes.
Following the declaration, President Tinubu personally congratulated Adeleke on his victory.
The President described the outcome as “a fitting assurance that democracy will continue to flourish in our country” and urged the governor to unite the people of Osun State irrespective of their political affiliations.
Four other officials from Osun State were also seen arriving at the Presidential Villa shortly after Adeleke.
They included the Director-General of the Adeleke Campaign Council, Senator Lere Oyewumi; a member of the council, Sunday Bisi; the Chief of Staff to the Osun State Governor, Akinleye Kazeem; and Bamidele Salam, member of the House of Representatives representing Ede North/Ede South/Egbedore/Ejigbo Federal Constituency.
Adeleke won in 19 of Osun State’s 30 local government areas, while Oyebamiji secured victory in 11 councils.
The governor’s re-election has attracted significant political attention, particularly because he contested the election on the Accord platform after the Osun State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) adopted his candidacy and directed its structures to support his bid.
The meeting between Tinubu and Adeleke is therefore taking place against the backdrop of growing political realignments ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The engagement is also expected to generate further political interest given the President’s recent meetings with political leaders and senior government officials ahead of the 2027 political season.
