Man arrested over alleged rape of minor in Bauchi
The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested a 28-year-old man, Baffa’ji Abba, over the alleged rape of his neighbour’s eight-year-old daughter in Alkaleri Local Government Area of the state.
The incident was reportedly brought to the attention of the police on December 31, 2025, at about 10:42 a.m. The complaint was lodged by the victim’s father, Baffa’ji Muhammed, at the Divisional Police Headquarters in Alkaleri.
Police sources said that immediately after receiving the report, a team of detectives led by the Divisional Police Officer, CSP Kadiri Danjuma, moved to the scene of the incident. The victim was taken to the General Hospital in Alkaleri for urgent medical attention.
The suspect was arrested shortly after and is currently in police custody as investigations continue. The Bauchi State Police Command said the case would be thoroughly investigated and assured the public that justice would be served.
During interrogation, the suspect was said to have willingly confessed to the crime.
According to a statement by the Command’s spokesperson, SP Nafiu Habib, the suspect, who lives at the same address as the victim, allegedly lured the child into a bathroom and sexually assaulted her multiple times against her will.
The statement reads “ On 31/12/2025 at about 1042hrs, one Baffa’ji Muhammed ‘m’ reported at the Divisional Police Headquarters, Alkaleri, that on 30/12/2025 at about 1830hrs, one Baffa’ji Abba ‘m’ aged 28yrs (same address with the complainant), lured his biological daughter (name withheld) aged 8yrs of age into a bathroom and forcefully had carnal knowledge of her through both her vagina and anus for about five times in a single day against her will.”
Meanwhile, the State Commissioner of Police, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, has directed the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) to carry out a discreet and thorough investigation into the matter, adding that the suspect will be profiled and subsequently charged to court for the confirmed offences.
