“Stop insulting My Mom” – Regina Daniels begs Nigerians amid marital crisis
Actress and filmmaker Regina Daniels has pleaded with Nigerians to stop hurling insults at her mother, Rita Daniels, amid her ongoing marital crisis with billionaire husband and Senator, Ned Nwoko.
In a heartfelt video shared on Instagram on Wednesday, Regina addressed the backlash her mother has faced, insisting that she didn’t marry Nwoko out of greed and revealing that her family had initially opposed the marriage.
“The main essence of this video is to please, stop insulting my mom. For some reason, I feel like I owe you all this explanation because I don’t know why everyone is in pain about my life. But I don’t feel like you all are pained from a bad side… So please, stop insulting my mom,” she said.
Calling her mother “the best thing that ever happened” to her, Regina praised Rita Daniels for her strength over the years.
“She’s been strong for seven years. My mom held it down. She tried. You all insulted her. But she tried. It’s me. I’m the one with the coconut head. I’m ashamed to say I fell in love, but I actually really did,” she confessed.
The actress rejected claims that she married Nwoko for money, stressing that her family was financially stable before the marriage.
“Stop saying I got married out of greed. Excuse me. No. We were not broke. And secondly, what money can a man give to a mother to get her child, who practically provides everything in the house?” she questioned.
Regina also disclosed that the emotional pressure surrounding her marriage once pushed her to contemplate suicide.
“I was a blessing to my mom. God used me to settle her. She warned me. My brothers warned me. Everyone warned me. And I drove out at night. I was going to kill myself if I didn’t marry Ned,” she revealed.
Despite the crisis, Regina expressed love and respect for Nwoko, noting that she is determined to fight for custody of their children.
“The only reason I am not fighting you, Ned, is that I want Munir and Khalifa’s father’s name to be strong. But I’ll fight for my children. I’ll train them and raise them, with or without your support,” she said.
Her emotional video follows the public fallout of her marriage in October after she accused Nwoko of physically assaulting her, an allegation he denied, claiming her conduct was influenced by substance abuse.
