2027: Keyamo mocks Obi over alleged secret acceptance of VP slot
The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo (SAN), has taken a swipe at an unnamed political figure, accusing the individual of secretly accepting a Vice-Presidential slot despite being aware that party primaries had already been concluded.
Keyamo made the allegation in a post on his X (formerly Twitter) handle on Monday, where he suggested that the politician is currently struggling to craft a statement that would justify the move to supporters without appearing inconsistent or politically compromised.
The minister, who served as spokesperson of the Tinubu–Shettima Presidential Campaign Council during the 2023 general elections, described the unnamed politician as a “turncoat” and a “fraud,” insisting that the eventual public announcement would expose the individual’s true political character.
“Finally, the chicken is coming home to roost,” Keyamo wrote. “I understand that someone, somewhere has drafted and redrafted the statement he will release to hoodwink his ‘supporters’ on why he has accepted to be Vice-Presidential candidate after a primaries that he knows has long been concluded.”
He further mocked the anticipated justification, suggesting that the politician was relying on familiar political rhetoric to mask what he described as a demotion.
“He has written and torn drafts upon drafts, containing the normal gibberish of ‘my desire to rescue Nigeria’, bla, bla bla. It’s a tough one for him, but we are excited at the prospect of unmasking a true turncoat and a fraud at the coming campaigns,” the minister added.
Keyamo urged Nigerians to closely monitor developments, asking his followers to bookmark the post for comparison once the unnamed politician eventually releases a public statement.
“Please, bookmark this tweet so we can all read his statement with some derision when it is eventually released,” he stated, adding that reactions from certain quarters showed that some people’s “raw nerves have been seriously affected.”
Although the minister did not mention any individual by name, the post has triggered widespread speculation on social media, with political observers interpreting the remarks as being directed at opposition figures involved in ongoing political realignments ahead of future elections.
