BREAKING: JAMB grants admission to 85 Candidates below 16 after clearance
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced the release of results for 85 underage candidates, those below 16 years by September 2025, who successfully passed the Board’s comprehensive screening for exceptional admission.
In a statement issued on Monday by its Public Communication Advisor, Dr Fabian Benjamin, JAMB said the 85 candidates deemed qualified have been duly notified to proceed to their respective institutions to complete the admission process and print their JAMB admission letters.
“This policy of exceptional admission aligns with global best practices, where such cases are treated as rare exceptions rather than the norm,” the statement read.
According to JAMB, during the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), out of 2,031,133 applicants, 41,027 sought consideration under the special underage category.
Of these, 599 scored 80% or higher and were subjected to further verification, including the review of school certificates and post-UTME screening.
The process, JAMB said, narrowed the number down to 182 finalists, and after additional verification and interviews, 85 candidates were confirmed to have met all requirements and were cleared for admission.
The Board also advised any of the 182 finalists who missed the final interview to submit a formal request via the JAMB Support Ticketing System under the category “2025 Underage Complaint.”
Each complaint, it noted, would be reviewed individually based on merit.
In a related update, JAMB announced that candidates who scored 320 and above in the UTME but were disqualified for failing to upload their O-Level results now have two days, until Wednesday, October 29, 2025, to upload their results and notify the Board through the ticketing system.

“The Board remains committed to ensuring that the admission process is credible, transparent, and inclusive while safeguarding the integrity of academic standards across all levels of tertiary education in Nigeria,” JAMB stated.
