‘You are hungry because you are lazy’ — Yari tells Nigerians at APC rally in Rivers
The Director-General of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council, Abdulaziz Yari, has attributed hunger among Nigerians partly to what he described as laziness, arguing that hard work could help individuals overcome poverty.
Yari made the remark on Saturday during the APC presidential campaign rally in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital.
The former Zamfara State governor argued that the government should not be held solely responsible for the hunger and economic difficulties facing Nigerians, insisting that individual attitudes and willingness to work also played a role.
Addressing the crowd at the rally, Yari told Nigerians experiencing hunger that they needed to work harder to improve their circumstances.
“You are hungry because you are lazy. If you work hard, you will not be hungry,” he said.
His comments come amid ongoing public concerns over rising food prices, declining purchasing power and the cost-of-living pressures affecting households across the country.
