Ademola Lookman gets new coach as Atalanta hires Raffaele Palladino
Italian Serie A side Atalanta have officially appointed Raffaele Palladino as their new head coach, signing a contract that runs until June 2027.
The decision follows the dismissal of Ivan Jurić after a poor start to the 2025/26 season.
The announcement, made on Tuesday, came less than a day after Juric was relieved of his duties, following a 3-0 home defeat to newly-promoted Sassuolo.
The loss left club executives frustrated just 11 games into the campaign.
Palladino, 41, inherits a team at a critical point in the season.
The former Fiorentina coach is known for his progressive attacking style and emphasis on developing young talent, earning acclaim in Italy despite leaving Florence amid internal disagreements.
Atalanta CEO Luca Percassi expressed confidence in Palladino’s appointment, stating that his “vision, energy, and long-term commitment” are aligned with the club’s ambitions.
Palladino’s immediate task is to stabilise Atalanta’s domestic form while managing European commitments.
He is expected to lead his first training session later this week as preparations begin for the team’s next league fixture.
