BREAKING: Tinubu names Kingsley Udeh new Minister of Science, Innovation and Technology
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed Dr. Kingsley Tochukwu Udeh (SAN) as the new Minister of Science, Innovation and Technology, replacing Uche Nnaji, who resigned last month amid certificate forgery allegations.
The appointment was announced in a letter sent to the Senate and read during Tuesday’s plenary session by Senate President Godswill Akpabio.
Tinubu stated in the letter that the nomination was made in line with Section 147(2) of the 1999 Constitution (as amended) and urged the Senate to give it swift consideration.
“In compliance with the provisions of Section 147(2) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 (as amended), I am pleased to forward to the Senate the nomination of Dr. Kingsley Tochukwu-Udeh for confirmation as Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
While I hope that this request will receive the usual expeditious consideration of the Senate, please accept, distinguished Senate President and distinguished Senators, the assurances of my highest regards,” the letter read in part.
After the letter was read, the Senate referred the nomination to the Committee of the Whole for immediate consideration.
Dr. Udeh, who hails from Enugu State, currently serves as the Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice in the state.
His appointment fills the ministerial slot left vacant by Nnaji, who resigned on October 7, 2025, following widespread allegations of university certificate forgery.
