BREAKING: Tinubu nominates Ibas, Enang, others as Ambassadors, list hits 65
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has nominated Ibok-Ete Ekwe Ibas, the immediate past sole administrator of Rivers State and former Chief of Naval Staff, as a non-career ambassador.
The President also forwarded the names of three others for non-career ambassadorial roles. They are: former senator Ita Enang; Chioma Ohakim, former First Lady of Imo State; and Abdulrahman Dambazau, former Minister of Interior and former Chief of Army Staff.
The nominations have been transmitted to the Senate for screening and confirmation.
Very Nigerian had earlier reported that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu had forwarded a fresh list of 32 ambassadorial nominees to the Senate for screening and confirmation, days after transmitting the first batch of three nominees.
The expanded list included prominent political figures such as former INEC chairman, Prof. Mahmud Yakubu; former presidential aide, Reno Omokri (Delta); and former Enugu State Governor, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi.
The new list now comprises of 34 career ambassadors and high commissioners, as well as 31 non-career nominees, bringing the total to 65.
Among the notable career nominees are Sulu-Gambari Olatunde Ahmed from Kwara State and Segun Ige from Edo State.
Prominent non-career nominees include Senator Folasade Grace Bent from Adamawa, Senator Solomon Ita Enang from Akwa Ibom, and Senator Jimoh Ibrahim from Ondo State.
Currently the Senate has commenced the screening of nominees for appointment by the President.
