BREAKING: Trump orders US War Department to prepare for possible action in Nigeria over Christian killings
US President Donald Trump has directed the Department of War to prepare for possible military action against Islamic terrorists in Nigeria, citing the continued killing of Christians in the country.
In a post on his Truth Social account on Saturday, Trump issued a stern warning to the Nigerian government, urging it to act swiftly to end the violence.
He also announced plans to suspend all US aid and assistance to Nigeria if the government fails to take decisive action.
“If the Nigerian Government continues to allow the killing of Christians, the U.S.A. will immediately stop all aid and assistance to Nigeria, and may very well go into that now disgraced country, ‘guns-a-blazing,’ to completely wipe out the Islamic terrorists who are committing these horrible atrocities. I am hereby instructing our Department of War to prepare for possible action. If we attack, it will be fast, vicious, and sweet, just like the terrorist thugs attack our cherished Christians! WARNING: THE NIGERIAN GOVERNMENT BETTER MOVE FAST!” Trump said.
His comments came a day after he redesignated Nigeria as a “country of particular concern,” a move prompted by allegations of religious persecution and the killing of Christians by radical Islamist groups.
Trump accused Islamic extremists of carrying out what he described as a “mass slaughter” of Christians across Nigeria.
Reacting to the development, President Bola Tinubu rejected Trump’s decision, insisting that Nigeria remains a democratic nation guided by constitutional guarantees of freedom of religion and belief.

The Nigerian government described the claim of Christian persecution as misleading, reaffirming its commitment to protecting the rights and safety of all citizens regardless of their faith.
