Law School Student allegedly commits suicide in Adamawa, Police launch probe
The Adamawa State Police Command has provided fresh clarity on the disturbing case of an alleged suicide involving a student of the Nigeria Law School, Yola Campus, identified as Ojajuni Ayomiposi, who reportedly died after being barred from writing his final Bar examination.
In a statement released on Sunday night by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Sulaiman Nguroje, the police confirmed that investigations have commenced into the circumstances surrounding the student’s death.
According to the statement, the incident was first reported on December 7, 2025, by the Chief Security Officer of the Law School.
Nguroje disclosed that on December 6, at about 11:30 a.m., Ayomiposi arrived at the campus in a tricycle, “visibly staggering,” before jumping over the fence into the hostel premises.
A security guard who went to check on him found him unconscious and vomiting.
He was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital where he was admitted but later confirmed dead while receiving treatment.
His body has since been deposited in the mortuary for autopsy.
Nguroje added that the Commissioner of Police, CP Dankombo Morris, has ordered a discreet and thorough investigation to unravel the true circumstances leading to the student’s death.
The incident has sparked mixed narratives within and outside the campus.
Initial reports alleged that Ayomiposi ingested a harmful substance, suspected to be rat poison, after he was denied entrance into the Bar examination hall for failing to meet the required 75 per cent attendance and allegedly ignoring queries issued by the school authorities.
Other accounts suggest that he became distraught after being stopped from joining his colleagues for the examination, which reportedly began on Saturday, December 6.
Sources claimed he was first taken to the Modibbo Adama University Teaching Hospital shortly after ingesting the substance, where he allegedly passed away the following morning.
While the circumstances remain unclear and conflicting accounts continue to emerge, the police say their investigation will determine what truly happened and whether the student’s death was a case of suicide, negligence, or something more complex.
