Steps to change phone number, email on JAMB portal
The new arrangement is expected to assist candidates who can no longer access their registered SIM cards
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has introduced a new procedure for candidates who can no longer access the phone numbers or email addresses linked to their profiles.
The examination body announced the development in a video shared on its official X handle on Wednesday, explaining the steps candidates are expected to follow to update their details.
The new process is aimed at helping candidates who have lost access to their registered SIM cards or email accounts and, as a result, are unable to receive important examination notifications or access their JAMB profiles.
The arrangement is expected to make it easier for affected candidates to regain access to their accounts and continue with necessary admission and examination-related activities.
“Candidates who lost their SIM card can now swap it with a new one. And those who also lost access to their email addresses on the JAMB portal can now change to a new one,” JAMB said.
How to change your phone number or email on JAMB portal
Candidates seeking to use the service are required to complete the following steps:
1. Obtain a court affidavit
Candidates must first visit a High Court and obtain an affidavit supporting their request to change their registered phone number or email address.
2. Access the JAMB e-Facility
After obtaining the affidavit, candidates should log into their JAMB e-Facility account.
3. Select ‘Penalties’
On the e-Facility dashboard, candidates should select the ‘Penalties’ option.
4. Choose SIM Swap/Email Change
Under the Penalties section, select ‘SIM Swap/Email Change Penalty Payment.’
5. Pay the required fee
Candidates should make the prescribed payment through the JAMB portal.
6. Visit a JAMB office
After payment, candidates are required to visit a designated JAMB office to complete the process.
JAMB said the service is available only at designated JAMB PTC/PRC Centres.
7. Provide profile details
At the centre, candidates will be required to provide their profile code and existing GSM number.
8. Complete biometric verification
The candidate will undergo biometric verification as part of the process.
9. Upload the affidavit
The scanned copy of the court affidavit obtained earlier must also be uploaded to complete the request.
Who is eligible?
JAMB said the service is intended for candidates with genuine cases of lost access to their registered GSM numbers or email addresses.
The board also stated that the service can only be used once, urging candidates to ensure that the new details supplied during the process are accurate.
