Fake Tinubu Audio: Verydarkman must face the wrath of the law – Presidency
The Presidency on Wednesday called for legal action against social media influencer, Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VDM, over the circulation of an alleged fake audio purportedly linked to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, accused the influencer of spreading false content online, describing the development as a serious abuse of social media platforms.
Onanuga made the allegation in a post shared on X while reacting to controversy surrounding an audio recording circulating online and allegedly attributed to the President.
> “This VDM needs to face the weight of the law for being the conveyor and disseminator of a fake audio of President Tinubu. This is a clear case of an egregious abuse of the social media platform,” Onanuga wrote.
The presidential aide’s reaction followed comments by an X user identified as Aneex, who questioned claims that the voice in the recording belonged to Tinubu.
The user reportedly dismissed the recording as “cheap propaganda” and accused VDM of exploiting public sentiment to spread misleading information online.

The controversy has since generated heated debate across social media platforms, with users divided over the authenticity of the audio recording and growing concerns about the spread of unverified digital content ahead of the 2027 political season.
