Fubara lauds Wike’s vision, calls him ‘My Oga’ in new video

Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has described a major road project in the state as “very important,” citing the vision of the project’s originator, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike.

“For me, this project is very important, considering the person who conceived it, my Oga, the Honorable Minister. He had a very big vision,” Governor Fubara said while inspecting the ongoing works.

The remark comes amid fresh indications of reconciliation in the state following President Bola Tinubu’s intervention in the lingering political crisis between Governor Fubara and his predecessor, Wike, who currently serves as Minister of the FCT.

Wike described the presidential intervention as timely and fatherly, commending the President for acting in the interest of peace and stability. “As a father, he needed to intervene and he did,” Wike said after the late-night meeting in Abuja, which also brought together other key political stakeholders from Rivers State.

While details of the closed-door talks were not disclosed, sources familiar with the discussions said they focused on addressing the deepening rift between Fubara and Wike, aiming to restore political stability in the oil-rich state.

Following the meeting, Fubara reportedly accompanied Wike to his residence in Guzape, Abuja, a gesture widely interpreted as a sign of reconciliation.

Unconfirmed sources also claimed the governor pledged to refrain from actions that could be perceived as disrespectful, raising hopes of a thaw in relations between the two influential political figures.

The political crisis in Rivers, which erupted shortly after Fubara assumed office, has fractured the State House of Assembly, triggered impeachment threats, prolonged court battles, and disrupted legislative activities, leaving the state’s governance in a tense stalemate.
