President Bola Tinubu has approved a new salary structure for personnel of the Nigerian Armed Forces, with pay increases ranging from 30 to 80 percent.

The announcement was made on Tuesday by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, in a statement.

According to Onanuga, the new salary package is part of the Federal Government’s efforts to improve the welfare of military personnel and strengthen the country’s security forces.

The salary adjustment will see officers and soldiers receive increases of between 30 and 80 percent, depending on their ranks and service categories.

Further details on the implementation of the new pay structure are expected to be released by the relevant authorities.

He added that about 250,000 personnel will benefit from the new deal, which will become effective from September 1.
