Rivers Govt says emergency rule didn’t stall development, unveils 10-Day project rollout
The Rivers State Government has assured residents that the period of emergency rule in the state did not derail its development blueprint, stressing that the administration of Governor Siminalayi Fubara remained firmly committed to delivering infrastructure and social services despite political turbulence.
The assurance came on Monday during a joint media briefing in Port Harcourt, where the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Dr. Benibo Anabraba, announced a 10-day rollout of commissioning and flag-off ceremonies for key projects across multiple local government areas.
Dr. Anabraba maintained that the administration never lost focus, even at the peak of the crisis, insisting that the government has now fully regained momentum in the planning, execution and completion of its priority projects.
“Despite the resultant effect of the interregnum in democratic governance, this administration has taken off in earnest from where we stopped,” he said, noting that the government is back on track and accelerating its development agenda.
He credited President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for what he described as a “fatherly intervention,” which, according to him, ensured continuity of governance during the political impasse and enabled the Rivers State Government to resume its mandate without disruption.
“With special appreciation to the President of Nigeria, His Excellency Bola Ahmed Tinubu, whose kindly and fatherly intervention ensured that we return to fulfill all our obligations to the people of Rivers State,” Anabraba added.
He disclosed that 10 major projects have been lined up for commissioning and flag-off between December 10 and 23, cutting across Ahoada East, Ahoada West, Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni, Ikwerre, Emohua, Obio/Akpor and Port Harcourt City LGAs. More projects, he said, will be unveiled after the Christmas break.
According to him, the rollout reflects the administration’s unwavering commitment to its social contract with the people of Rivers State.
