President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated the Super Eagles following their emphatic 4-1 victory over Gabon in the FIFA World Cup qualifying Africa Playoff match, describing the win as a testament to the resilient Nigerian spirit that “rises, adapts, and prevails.”

In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu praised the team for displaying courage, balance, and precision, noting that football remains one of Nigeria’s strongest symbols of unity and national pride.

He said the victory has injected fresh energy into the national spirit, strengthening the collective resolve to secure Nigeria’s place at the 2026 World Cup.

The President commended the players, coaching crew, and the entire technical and administrative team for their dedication, which he said has brought honour to the nation.

Tinubu also highlighted that the win reflects the depth of talent Nigeria continues to produce and the determination of the Super Eagles to reclaim their place among Africa’s football powerhouses.

He further appreciated millions of Nigerians at home and abroad for their unwavering support, saying their passion serves as a powerful motivation for the team during crucial international competitions.

In his message to the squad, Tinubu urged the players to build on their momentum and remain disciplined as the qualifiers progress, adding that each match is another opportunity to showcase the nation’s character and ambition.

“This is the true Nigerian spirit of resilience against all odds. Do not stop until you secure qualification. Super Eagles, keep soaring. The nation stands with you!” the President said.
