Police to arraign fake presidential council DG Adeniyi Tuesday, list Gbaja as…
The Nigeria Police Force will on Tuesday arraign Adeniyi Adeyemi, the self-acclaimed Director-General of the controversial Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC), before the Federal High Court in Abuja over alleged forgery, impersonation and related offences.
Adeyemi, alongside two others, is facing an eight-count charge contained in suit number FHC/ABJ/CR/562/2025, filed on November 27, 2025, by police prosecutor Wisdom Madaki.
The case was initially scheduled for June 16, but proceedings were adjourned after Adeyemi was reported to be ill. Justice Mohammed Umar subsequently fixed a new date for the defendants to take their plea.
According to court documents, the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, is among the prosecution’s witnesses.
Other witnesses include officials from the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation (OAGF), police officers, civil servants, and individuals allegedly assigned to work with Adeyemi at the non-existent agency.
The prosecution is also expected to call the owner of Kachi Hotel in Abuja and the pastor of St. Matthew’s Anglican Church, Maitama, as witnesses during the trial.
Documents listed as evidence include the police investigation report, a petition by Gbajabiamila dated October 17, 2025, and an alleged fake presidential appointment letter dated March 8, 2024.
Other exhibits include correspondence allegedly used by Adeyemi to obtain approvals from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), and the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation for the operations of the purported agency.
The police alleged that Adeyemi operated the fictitious Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council from the second floor of the Federal Secretariat Complex, Phase III, Abuja, before his arrest.
The prosecution said it reserves the right to call additional witnesses during the trial.
The case followed President Bola Tinubu’s directive to the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) to investigate the activities of the alleged fake agency within 30 days.
